Job Description
The EMVO (Emergency Medical Vehicle Operator), or ambulance driver, will operate EMS vehicles in a safe and courteous manner while transporting patients and crew members. Aside from operating the emergency vehicle, the EMVO is expected to assist in maintaining, cleaning, refueling, and restocking the ambulance. The EMVO must be certified in basic first aid and CPR and is expected to assist the certified crew member with basic patient care. EMVOs are expected to be able to remain calm and professional under stressful emergency situations. An EMVO must possess the physical capabilities to lift, carry, and move patients in a safe and timely manner. They are expected to obtain and maintain the minimum requirements and certifications necessary to be qualified to perform their job duties.
Requirements
Must be at least 18 years old
Must possess a valid driver's license
Must have a WV state approved EVOC completion certificate
Must be certified in basic first aid and CPR
Must obtain a WV state EMVO certification card
Must be able to lift/carry a minimum of 125lbs alone, and an equally distributed 250lbs with assistance, for a distance of 10 feet
